Who am i ?

The world of film has always fascinated me. Even a low/no budget film, if blessed with good acting, a powerful script and clever direction, can make us laugh, cry, think, even change our basic life philosophies.

The serious art/business of cinema has woven itself into the fabric of our society. New technologies promise only more freedom for the creative person to implement their ideas into images others can watch and appreciate.

Creative directors are especially important since they oversee the creation of new worlds; worlds that began as fleeting images in their minds.

I am Arun Vaidyanathan, born and raised in Sirkali, a remote town in south India. I watched movies as a boy because it was the only entertainment In school, I studied music and dance and learned the thrill of an applauding audience. I also discovered a talent for Mimicry, which I pursued in college. This led to jobs in the television field. I wrote scripts, directed and performed in the leading television programs of South India (Sun TV & Raj TV). On Raj TV, I worked on a program called Hollywood Special where reviews about Hollywood films were given in my mother tongue Tamil. I loved that job and learned of many American films I would not have otherwise been exposed to.

Ever the pragmatist, I completed my education in Computers, allowing me to land a job with a leading software company which allowed me to come to the United States. I then completed the New York Film Academy program and have directed short films in my home state of New Jersey.
