Beautiful
Much, much
better with the music here. I am a fan of movies where
only the actors' talents and the music tell the story
alongside the camera...the suspense the score created
was terrific (compliments to Mr. Srikanth). I loved the
twist in the end too...really had me fooled there
:)

spooky
stuff!
Nice black and white photography.
Very cool use of music. It worked well with the editing,
to reflect the main character's thought process. Nice
twist at the end. The movie felt a bit slow, but that
isn't too bad a thing, as it helped to build the mood
and make the impact of the twist strong. Nice use of one
location to tell a whole story. Good work! -- By

The Noose
Nice work!
This film is purely about a twist. The audience thinks
at first that this guy is going to kill himself but we
are then shocked to find out that he was just checking
the noose to make sure it was ready for him to stage his
girlfriend's or wife's (who he has already killed)
suicide. You did an excellent job of conveying all this
information visually. I was never confused and in a lot
of silent films I am because the filmmaker doesn't know
how to tell a story visually. You do.
What I
think could have been better is your camera work. I
think this needed a lot more close ups. The camera felt
very detached and far away from what was going on
because pretty much every shot was a wide or medium
shot. I think that your lighting could have been better
too. You needed more practicals on the set, lamps and
such, to motivate where you lights were coming from. The
film felt very "lit" and not natural. The music that you
had written for this was perfect. Great job! I rate this
a 4.8 out of 10. -- By Totoro, Posted on Tuesday,

Great film for playing with
perceptions...
Great film for playing with
perceptions... Several times i began to think one thing
would happen, when something completely different
happened. This was a very suprising little short, very
fun to watch. Great ending. If i had any complaints it
would be that it is too one trick pony. It would be nice
to see some more aspects of film making present. -- By InfoUp, Posted on Thursday, May 12,

interesting
The lack of
dialogue in this short would normally be a problem for
me but "The Noose" puled it off well. I really liked the
music and the entire short had I really liked how it was
lit. Bright in the right places and dark in the right
places. I also thought the actor did a very good job -
despite nothavnig any lines. All in all a pretty good
short -- By holdemmrpink, Posted on Thursday,

Excellent!
Wow,
how often do we see a short film with so many strong
elements? I love the appearance of this film and I feel
the acting and story were both very strong. If I were
shown this story idea before watching the film, I would
not have beleived it could be done without
dialogue.
I was lured into thinking I knew
the plot early on and thoroughly enjoyed where the story
took me after that. A lot of 90 minute productions don't
pull off what this film does in 3:31.
I never saw
the first version to compare it's music to this version,
but I really liked the new music. The music fit the film
very well wit overpowering the visuals. The way the
music changed for the second part of the film was
excellent.
Well done, achalam, cast, and crew! -- By rpitcher, Posted on Friday, April 22,

Noose
I thought
this was a pretty good effort. I am a big fan of the
short short, and a 3 minutes short which tells an entire
story is a great job. I wasnt able to open the higher
quality version, so I will abstain from a shredding of
the lighting since it is likely better than what I saw.
The story is not the most original, but it was well
constructed and well shot nonetheless. The black and
white quality did add to the effect by making it a bit
more disturbing so I thought that was a nice choice. -- By jm267, Posted on Sunday, April 17,

Interesting
I very
much enjoyed the soundtrack and how it worked with the
film. Without the soundtrack I don't think the piece
would be as interesting as it presently
stands.
The black and white film looked good
although I think more could have been done with lighting
to really develop some contrast within the shots since
black and white 16 can be visually powerful.
The
story was cool and the pacing of the film was very good.
Slow yet always moving forward. Good job. -- By

framing
Very
nicely edited piece /w quality audio too. Congrats on
completing this short; however, dark the piece may
be.
I enjoy black & white projects, but only
to the extent that the lack of color adds to a piece. In
this short I didn't see any net gain using black and
white, perhaps some additional intercutting would of
aided in shaping the viewers thoughts.
At least
this piece had visual content and helped convey a
thought process of sorts. In addition the piece
generated some questions by the viewer which is always
nice. The audio was relatively redundant but well met as
was continuity and direction.
The set seemed
incomplete with the plastic lawn chair in front of a
desk enriched with technology. The acting was not very
well paced but at least consistant. Seemed the
protagonist was eager in their scenes as evident by
blowing smoke into the goblet they were drinking from
which conveyed nervousness to me despite the pieces
controlof tone presented by the protagonist.
With
some acting and dialog this piece could rank well, that
being said at least all the core required elements for a
production piece were met which qualifies you to at
least compete with other nominations. -- By

The Noose was
Interesting
My students turned me onto this
site and this is my first review. I found this film to
be surprisingly interesting. The lighting was a bit
harsh for my taste, but in this case it seemed to add to
the film. I liked the fact that this story was told
visually, although I feel that the visuals early in the
piece could have been a bit more interesting. My real
complaint with this piece is the performance value of
David Ellis. Although the choices he made were valid
acting choices, it was a monotone performance in thefact
that he didn't vary his choices. I would have liked a
bit more emotion to show insight into the character.
Having said that, these performance choices in context
of a much larger film could be fine. But I think of
films such as Leathal Weapon (that's the one that comes
to mind) and we have a much more emotional
interpretation of contemplating death which I personally
find more interesting. For a short film, I like how Arun
used the camera and how when it was edited that shots
were not lingering in the final piece. Overal...very
well done and I am glad to review it. -- By

good twist.
Well done.
Im sure I can't say anything that has not already been
said. Just good storytelling in 3 minutes. Of course I
thought the story was going one way and it went another.
My first reaction was, "If this guy is going to kill
himself, why is he so relaxed?" "why would he put out
his cigarette?" But the "aha!" moment cleared that up.

another twist...
but a
smooth, nice one. im getting so sick of every student
film having a twist ending, but i think that this one
was very well done and not really an "ending". the
acting was brilliant, far better than most of the stuff
ive seen on TS and the lighting was beautiful. i think
the music worked well also; i would love to hear it both
ways. very good job. -- By wicket_saic, Posted on

Excellent
short.
I must admit, this film got
me...twice. I wasn't expecting the things that happened
to happen. I don't want any spoilers in here, so let's
just say, it was effective. I thought there was slightly
too much space when the man was at the desk, but after
that everything flowed very nicely. I read in your
production notes that you re-scored the film for the
members of trigger st, unfortunetly I was not able to
see the original version, but, I hate to say this, I had
a slight qualm with the music. I think I did because of
the music and film scores I've been brought up with.
Don't let this make you think I didn't like the film
though, I thought it was very good. I enjoyed it, thank
you. Keep it up. -- By drowningfilms, Posted on

the
noose
i realy liked it everything about it
worked realy well, mabey you could show us what happened
befor, like how he came to kill her in the first place.
or just have flashes of it at the begining, like when he
oicks the picture up uyou could cut to the struggle.
anyway i loved it. -- By Heartogram, Posted on

Sets a
mood
This was pretty good. The acting in
particular made the short. He came across gritty and
charismatic. The story was very realistic, nothing
over-the-top. I thought possibly the girl had been hung,
but in the end it looked like the guy was seeking to put
her head through the noose for reasons of his own. The
cinematography was good and black and white was the best
choice. The soundtrack was perfect. Pacing very good.
All the way around this was very well done. -- By

pretty good
I liked the
premise and the surprise, you pulled it off well. The
lighting in on of the scenes was overdone, watch your
shadows, overhead lighting is preferred though often not
possible so I can forgive it. Also watch the lighting
with black actors in dark scenes because they become
almost invisible, you need to have a soft spot on their
face from and window or something that cam be
believable. The soundtrack wprked with the exception of
the gostlike chant, I'd pull that out. Never forget the
power of silence. There might be a spot in this film for
effect silence. Good job and best of luck on future
projects. -- By icarus2005, Posted on Sunday,
